Norwich Guildhall Complete!

Norwich Guildhall

Norfolk and Norwich Festival (NNFest) are celebrating 250 years since their inaugural fundraising event in 1772, this coming year. To mark this momentous event the Festival were seeking a new accessible and long-term home within the City Centre.

Working with Norwich City Council, and supported by the Towns fund, NNFest identified the potential in the 15th Century Guildhall. Having been previously based in Augustine Stewart House, also an ancient building, they rose to the challenge of creating an accessible and welcoming base for their team.

We worked closely with Brenda Seymour, the general manager, to transform three tiered ancillary spaces into a new accessible WC, kitchenette and meeting room; re-serviced the Georgian Courtroom and the First Floor Mace Room and brought some neglected WCs back into use.

You may also have noticed that the ugly ramp onto Guildhall Hill has gone! The next phases of the project include reinstating the connection between the Guildhall and the market, creating a new accessible entrance to the South.

Watch this space for developments in the New Year!
