Norwich Market Square and Stalls, Norwich

Previously cut off from the heart of the city by roads and abrupt level changes the city and guild halls now form part of a new vibrant civic square. It is a natural urban theatre for informal and formal events whether street theatre, drinking, eating, meeting or civic celebrations. The square slopes down to the north with the guild hall proposed as a gallery forming a magnificent backdrop. Level changes are accommodated with flights of steps defining pedestrian areas and doubling up as seating. Disabled routes through and around the square and market are given equal priority.
