This highly unusual Paragraph 80 house features a crescent form clad almost entirely in thatch, and incorporates low carbon construction technology to meet exacting Passivhaus standards. Conceived as a land art intervention, it takes inspiration from natural and man made elements in the surrounding countryside, and its eye-catching form references the curved forms of nearby woodland, marshland and the coast. A central stone tower references historic local churches, and the use of thatch continues our exploration of marrying traditional materials, modern construction and exceptional energy performance.
