We have published our first Carbon Reduction Plan, establishing a baseline for our operational carbon emissions and setting out our commitment to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
As architects, we recognise that our greatest opportunity to reduce carbon lies not only in how we operate as a practice, but also in the buildings and places we help create. While this plan focuses on reducing the environmental impact of our own operations, it also reflects our wider commitment to promoting sustainable, low-carbon and regenerative design across our projects.
The plan has been prepared in accordance with PPN 06/21 and sets out:
- our baseline carbon emissions for the 2024–2025 financial year;
- our commitment to reduce operational emissions by at least 50% by 2030;
- the measures already in place to reduce our environmental impact; and
- future initiatives that will support continual improvement.
The plan builds on our existing commitments as signatories to Architects Declare and the RIBA Climate Challenge, and complements the environmental management procedures we operate through our ISO 14001 framework.
This is the first edition of our Carbon Reduction Plan and provides the foundation for measuring progress in future years. We will review and update the document annually as we continue to reduce our operational emissions and support clients in delivering more sustainable buildings.
