Planning approval for the relocation of historic station building

We are delighted to have achieved planning permission for the relocation of the historic Wansford Road Station Building from near Sutton to Railword Wildlife Haven in Peterborough.

Originally set for demolition due to the widening of the A47, the station building was gifted to Wansford Road CIO as part of a community support programme to avoid the significant loss of a heritage asset. At its new location within Peterborough, the station building will serve as a new gateway for the Railworld Wildlife Haven and Nene Valley Railway attractions providing an enhanced and efficient visitor experience.

The intention is to rebuild the station as close feasibly possible to its original form, housing a welcome desk, servery, café seating, retail space and visitor toilets.
